Energy Saving Tips
It has become more important than ever to save money,
particularly when it comes to energy. The price of energy will continue to increase over the coming years, so it is
important to make savings wherever you can.
There are a number of simple things that you can do that by
themselves are minor, but when added up across months and years can turn out to
be quite substantial. Implementing these energy saving tips should be considered a priority.
- Turn your television, computer monitor and other
appliances off instead of leaving them on standby
- Buy energy efficient appliances
- Turn down your
thermostat by 1 degree or to a level where you still feel comfortable
- Use a shower instead of a bath. A bath can use twice as much energy as a shower
- Only boil the kettle for the
water you actually need
- Keep furniture away from
the front of a radiator, as it can soak up most of the heat
that’s being put out
- Turn off lights when you leave the room, or install a
timer
- Switch to low energy light bulbs
- Use full loads in your washer, and wash small loads
by hand
- Keep your freezer fully stocked
up
- If you have air conditioning ensure all windows and doors
are shut
- Ensure your windows and doors are draught
proof
- Check you have the correct amount of loft
insulation
- Install double glazing
- Invest in solar energy and wind power
- Use an Energy Saver
